PC Guide · Windows & Mac
BitLife is a mobile game, but many players want to play it on a PC. A bigger screen, keyboard controls, and better performance can make the game more comfortable. It is also a good option if your phone is low on storage or runs the game slowly.
While there is no official Windows or Mac version of BitLife, you can still play the real game on your computer. This guide explains the best ways to do it, how to keep your progress and purchases, and whether you can play BitLife on a PC without downloading anything.
01 · The Short Answer
There is no official BitLife desktop app. Candywriter builds for Android and iOS only. To play on a computer you run the mobile version inside something else.

The key point for all three: install the official BitLife from the Google Play Store inside them. Sign in with the same Google account you use on your phone and your saves and purchases carry across. Downloading a modified APK from a random site breaks that — separate save, no sync, no updates, and a real malware risk. There is no reason to go that route when the official app installs just as easily.
02 · Official Version
No official build
No. Candywriter LLC, the Houston-based studio behind BitLife, has never released a Windows or macOS build. The game launched on iOS in September 2018, came to Android the following year, and has stayed on those two platforms since.
There is no Steam release, no Epic Games Store listing, and no downloadable .exe or .dmg. If you find a site offering "BitLife PC setup.exe" or "BitLife for Windows free download," close it. Those files are not the game. At best they are installer bundles stuffed with adware; at worst they are something considerably nastier.
Discontinued · March 2025
Windows 11 briefly supported Android apps natively through the Windows Subsystem for Android. Microsoft discontinued it, and support ended in March 2025. It is no longer an option, so ignore any older guide that recommends it.
03 · Method 1
An Android emulator lets your computer act like an Android phone. You can open the Google Play Store, download BitLife, and play it just like you would on your mobile device.
This is the easiest and most reliable way to play BitLife on both Windows and Mac.
Follow these steps to install BitLife on your Windows PC:
Download an emulator: Get BlueStacks or LDPlayer from their official website.
Install the emulator: Run the installer and wait for it to finish.
Sign in to Google Play: Open the emulator and log in with your Google account.
Install BitLife: Search for BitLife by Candywriter LLC and install it.
Restore your purchases: Open the game and use Restore Purchases if needed.
Set up keyboard controls: You can assign keys to make playing easier.
The setup is very similar on a Mac:
Install an emulator, sign in to Google Play, and download BitLife.
Use an emulator that supports these chips, such as BlueStacks Air.
If BitLife appears under iPhone & iPad Apps, you can install it without using an emulator. If it is not available, use an emulator instead.

For BitLife specifically, any of them will do. This is a text game with no 3D rendering, so performance is not the deciding factor. Pick based on your operating system and how much disk space you can spare.

If your emulator is unusually slow, virtualization (Intel VT-x or AMD-V) is almost always the cause. It is a BIOS setting and most emulators will warn you if it is switched off.
04 · Method 2
Google Play Games on PC is Google's official app for running Android games on Windows. It is lighter than a full emulator and handles account sync automatically, since it is Google's own product.
Setup is simple: download it from Google's official site, install, and sign in with your Google account. Your Play library and purchases come with you.
Windows only
The catalogue is curated. Not every Android game is available, and titles are added and removed over time. Check whether BitLife is currently listed before committing to this route — if it is not there, use an emulator instead.
It is also Windows only. Mac users should skip to Method 1.
Google's published requirements are stricter than most emulators: Windows 10 (version 2004 or later), an SSD with at least 10 GB free, a four-core processor, 8 GB of RAM, and a reasonably modern integrated or discrete graphics chip. On a slower laptop, LDPlayer is often the better bet.

05 · Method 3
If you have a Chromebook, you are already done. Most Chromebooks made since 2017 support Android apps directly.
Open the Play Store from your app launcher, search for BitLife, and install it. It runs as a normal Chrome OS window that you can resize. No emulator, no extra software, and your purchases and saves sync through your Google account automatically.
If you cannot find the Play Store, open Settings, look for "Apps," and switch on Google Play Store. Very old or school-managed Chromebooks may have it disabled by an administrator.
06 · No Download?
Many people search for a way to play BitLife on a PC without downloading anything. They want to open the game in a web browser and start playing right away.
The problem is that there is no official browser version of BitLife. Candywriter has never released a web version, so you cannot play the real game online without downloading it.
Many websites claim you can play BitLife online for free, but they are usually not the real game. Most of these sites fall into three types:
Different life simulation games that copy the BitLife idea.
Pages filled with ads that never load the game.
Sites that ask you to download unknown files instead of opening the game.
If a website says you can play the real BitLife in your browser, it is not telling the truth.
If you cannot install apps on your computer, the best option is to play BitLife on your phone. If you have your own laptop or Chromebook, you can also use an Android emulator to run the official game.
There is no safe or official way to play BitLife in a web browser, so it is best to avoid websites that claim otherwise.
07 · Best Experience
Space→ Age
BitLife on a phone is thousands of taps in the same spot. On a PC, map the Age button to your spacebar and you can run through a full life without moving the mouse. Most emulators include a key-mapping tool in the sidebar.
▯ 1080 × 1920
BitLife's interface is built for a tall, narrow screen. Stretched to a wide desktop window, menus look sparse and text lines get uncomfortably long. Set your emulator's resolution to a portrait phone size — 1080 x 1920 is a good default — and the layout looks right.
The most common mistake is signing into the emulator with a different Google account than your phone. You end up with two separate BitLife saves and purchases that only work in one place. Use one account everywhere, and use Restore Purchases if an unlock does not appear straight away.
Emulators are heavy even when the game inside them is not. On a laptop, expect noticeably shorter battery life and a fan that spins up. For a text game, plugging in is the simple fix.
08 · Troubleshooting
Enable virtualization (VT-x or AMD-V) in your BIOS. This fixes it in most cases. Closing other applications and giving the emulator more RAM in its settings also helps.
Your emulator may be reporting an unsupported Android version or device profile. Update the emulator to its latest release, or switch its device profile to a common phone model in settings.
Confirm you are signed into the same Google account, then open BitLife’s in-app store and choose Restore Purchases.
Update the emulator, update graphics drivers, and restart. If it persists, try a different emulator — this is usually an emulator issue, not a BitLife one.
Change the emulator resolution to a portrait phone size rather than a landscape desktop one.
09 · FAQ
8 quick answers about playing BitLife on a computer.
?!?
No. Candywriter has only released BitLife for Android and iOS. There is no official Windows or Mac version, no Steam release, and no browser version. To play on a computer you run the mobile version through an Android emulator, Google Play Games on PC, or a Chromebook.
Install a free Android emulator such as BlueStacks or LDPlayer from its official website, open the Google Play Store inside it, sign in with your Google account, and install BitLife. The game itself is free to download, and the emulator is free too.
Not legitimately. BitLife has no browser version and no cloud-streaming option. Sites offering to play it online free are running clones, ad pages, or download traps, not the real game.
Yes, as long as you sign in with the same Google account in the emulator that you use on your phone. Purchases such as God Mode and Bitizen restore the same way. Use the Restore Purchases button in the in-app store if anything is missing.
Yes, through an Android emulator. BlueStacks supports both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. On an Apple Silicon Mac, also check the “iPhone & iPad Apps” tab in the Mac App Store first, since some iOS apps run natively there without an emulator.
BlueStacks is the easiest to set up and works on Windows and Mac. LDPlayer is lighter and faster on older Windows PCs. Since BitLife is text-based and makes almost no demand on your graphics card, the choice comes down to your operating system and available disk space.
Downloading BlueStacks, LDPlayer, or NoxPlayer from their official websites is safe and legal. The risk comes from mirror sites and modified installers, so always download from the developer’s own domain, and install BitLife through the Play Store inside the emulator rather than from a third-party APK site.
Yes, and it is the simplest method of all. Most Chromebooks from 2017 onwards support Android apps. Open the Play Store from your launcher and install BitLife directly — no emulator needed.
10 · Wrap-up
It depends on why you want it. If your goal is a bigger screen and a keyboard shortcut for the Age button, an emulator delivers exactly that, and mapping the spacebar genuinely improves long multi-generation runs.
If you are hoping BitLife becomes a different, richer experience on a desktop, it will not. It is the same text game, in the same portrait window, with a fan running.
The setup is worth doing if you spend your day at a computer and want BitLife within reach without picking up your phone. Use the official Play Store version, sign in with your usual Google account, and everything you have already unlocked comes with you.
